An El Centro woman wanted to relinquish some dogs.

Lots of dogs. Approximately 40 dogs. According to El Centro police, the woman has been kenneling stray dogs at her apartment. She told officers that she places loose canines inside to keep them safe. By the time they were done, El Centro Police, Animal Control, and Code Enforcement removed 43 dogs, some said to be in poor condition, from the apartment. The dogs were placed at the Humane Society, City Pound and Dee's Rescue. It's expected that the canines will receive medical treatment where necessary and then be made available for adoption. Adult Protective Services was contacted to assist the woman. She was admonished not to house anymore strays.
