The brush fire near Laguna Dam is still burning.

The West Main Fire was reported Thursday morning and quickly burned 900 acres of rugged brush on both the Arizona and California sides of the Colorado River. By Sunday evening the fire was reported to be 75 percent contained and had burned over 1,025 acres. Most of the land is managed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. According to fire officials, the fire has had no growth since Friday and crews are monitoring hot spots. Approximately 50 firefighters have been involved with support from bulldozers and three helicopters. One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for heat related injuries. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
