Governor Gavin Newsom has announced several appointments to the Colorado River Board.

Jordan D. Joaquin, of Fort Yuma, Quechan Indian Reservation, has been appointed to the Board. Joaquin has served as President of the Quechan Tribe since 2019. He was a Tribal Council Member from 2008 to 2010. He retired as a Sergeant from Imperial County Sheriff's Office after 28 years of service. 

Frank Ruiz, of Riverside, was also appointed to the Colorado River Board. Ruiz is Salton Sea Director for Audubon California.

Gloria Cordero, of Long Beach, has also been appointed to the Colorado River Board. Cordero is president of Long Beach Utilities and represents the City of Long Beach on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. 

These appointments do not require Senate confirmation. Pay is $100 per diem.

The Governor also named Samantha Arthur, of Sacramento, Assistant Secretary for Salton Sea Policy of the California Natural Resources Agency. Arthur has been Working Lands Program Director for Audubon California since 2019. The position does not require Sente confirmation.
