(Unemployment rate down slightly)…The latest numbers are for December.
The numbers were released Friday morning by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. The December jobless rate for Imperial County was 22.5 percent. That is down from a revised 23.8% in November, and below last year’s estimate of 26.3 Percent. These numbers compare with an unadjusted rate of 7.9 percent for the state and 6.5 percent for the nation during the same period. The last month of 2013 recorded a civilian labor force of 76,600. Of those, 17,200 were unemployed. In December there were 10,200 employed in farm related jobs, 1,400 more than was reported in December 2012.
