(El Centro residential fire)…It was reported at around 6:00 pm Sunday.
El Centro Fire Department responded with 3 engines, 9 firefighters and one Battalion Chief. A second alarm was sounded for off duty firefighters and assistance from Imperial. Chief Cedric Cesena said the crews worked feverishly to keep the fire at 1852 Ross Avenue from spreading to surrounding structures. Five people, 3 adults and two children, were displaced by the fire damage. All five residents were assisted by the American Red Cross to find temporary lodging. They were also given a credit card from the department’s Save Program. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Chief it is suspected the fire may have been storm related, resulting in an electrical problem. No injuries were reported.
