Franklin qualifies for the 3 strikes law

(Eric Franklin found Guilty)…The decision was announced Wednesday.

The Imperial County jury found Franklin guilty of Criminal threats, a serious felony according to the District Attorney’s office, and violating a restraining order. According to the D.A’s office, in 2013 Franklin contacted the victim by phone from his residence in Lakewood, California. He threatened the victim with violence and also threatened any other people he may find in her Imperial County home. They say at approximately 3 hours after making the threats, Franklin showed up at the victim’s doorstep armed with a knife. The District Attorney’s office says the threats were particularly terrifying to the victim because Franklin had brutally assaulted her 10 years earlier. Superior Court Judge Matias Contreras determined Franklin had two previous conviction and qualified under the 3 strikes law. As a result, Franklin is facing a sentence of 25 years to life. Sentencing has been set for August 12th.
