(Unemployment down in March)…The numbers were released Friday.
The March numbers are the latest available. The Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department released them. The March Jobless rate came in at 18.6 percent, down from a revised 20 percent in February, and below the year ago estimate of 20.6 percent. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 6.5 percent for the state and 5.6 percent for the nation during the same period. In March the Imperial County had an available labor force of 82,800. Of those, 15,400 were unemployed.
