A 21-year old man has been charged with Bulk Cash Smuggling after a large amount of cash was found in his pockets.

According to the Border Patrol, the man was arrested after he approached the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City Wednesday afternoon. A Border Patrol agent noticed the driver was acting erratically and sent him to secondary inspection. When the driver stepped out of his car agents noticed large bulges in his pockets. When he emptied his pockets he pulled out bundles of cash, $29,060 in U. S. currency. The man told agents that he had crossed into the U.S. at the Calexico East Port of Entry and failed to declare the cash. The man, a Mexican national, will be charged for Unlicensed Money Transmitting Service and Bulk Cash Smuggling. The cash was seized.
