A 19-year-old man was arrested after leading El Centro police on a very short high-speed pursuit.

The incident occurred at about 7:36 p.m. Monday when officers attempted to stop a car near Imperial and Ocotillo Avenues. The driver failed to stop and drove off at speeds reaching 80 miles per hour. Just minutes later the car collided with another vehicle near Southwest High School. The driver then fled on foot but was detained just minutes later. After being treated for minor injuries, the man was booked at Imperial County Jail on charges of Reckless Evading a Police Officer.
