The Imperial County Farm Bureau held their Annual Dinner Meeting Thursday.

Ron Rubin was presented the 18th Annual Jim Kuhn Farmer of the Year award. Rubin, a Valley native, graduated from Holtville High School, Imperial Valley College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He has been involved in agriculture almost his entire life. Rubins involvement with the Farm Bureau spans over 25 years. He is active in the community through his church and many other organizations such as the Imperial Valley Food Bank, Brawley Feed the Need, the Mid-Winter Fair Animal Auction. He also serves on the Cal Alfalfa Seed Research Board and is a commissioner for the Cal Wheat Commission. He is also sits on the Board of Director of Community Valley Bank. Ron and his son Kurt founded Rubin Seeds, LLC and with his daughter Kaylin formed Imperial Valley Research Company, LLC. 

The Farm Bureau also named former ImperialCounty Agriculture Commissioner Carlos Ortiz as recipient of the 2023 Friend of the Farmer award.
