(Congressman Raul Ruiz has assessed the damage created by Tropical Storm Hilary)...He says he is petitioning the President to Declare a Disaster in California to assist Imperial County.

He says that would free-up more federal funds to help Imperial County to repair flood damage, power issues, structural damage, including residential as well as trees blown over into roadways. The Congressman said with the state emergency declaration, homeowners should be eligible for state funds to repair damaged homes. Ruiz Monday petitioned the President to declare a state of emergency in California. He said that would free up FEMA funds to assist those who do not have home insurance for these types of disasters. Ruiz said those affected can call his office at 760 424 8888 for referrals and better assistance. They can also call the California Governor's Office, as well.
