(Catholic Charities hold a soft opening)...It was for their new Day Center.

It is located at 250 West Orande in El Centro. They will host a Grand Opening in April. Catholic Charities call the Center a Center for the unhoused. They say the Day center operates under the belief most of the Homeless are not prepared to go into a permanent sheltering environment, or even a temporary sheltering environment. Officials say the Center is an entry point to meet the unhoused people get to know them and create a trust, a relationship, and show them the various resources available to them.. The Center operates from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm every day of the year, providing restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. They have morning coffee and a light breakfast, a hot nutritious lunch and a light take away meal in the late afternoon. The center can serve up to 400 meals per day. They will have access to personal hygiene products and clesaning supplies. They will also offer optional case management focused on health and safety, as well as identifying and overcoming barriers to obtaining housing.
