(Construction on Detention Facility set to begin)…Groundbreaking was held recently.
The 170,000 square foot Correctional Facility will be constructed in the Industrial Park near the East Port of Entry. It is being built by the Management and Training Corporation in conjunction with Hale Mills Construction, Municipal Capital Markets. When complete, the facility will feature 781 beds, but will be expandable to 2,000 beds. Developers are hoping to contract with the US Marshall’s office, Immigration and Customs and Enforcement and the California Department of Corrections. The plan is to capitalize on Federal and State prison over-crowding issues, while there is a demand for more prison facilities.
