Commander Jeff Mason says officers met with a security guard, who showed the officers a number of classroom windows that had been broken and the ransacking of those rooms. He says the officers also found a trail of blood leading from the campus to the street. The blood indicated the suspect had injured himself, but no suspects were found in the initial investigation. The Commander says at 6:45 that same morning police received a call of a burglary at Southwest High School. Windows were found broken and rooms ransacking at that campus, as well. Officers viewed the surveillance videos and saw two suspects committing the burglary. They were able to immediately identify one of the suspects.. They took a still image of the 2nd suspect. It was shown to other officers on duty, and the suspect was also identified. The suspects were identified as 14 and 15 year old teenagers. Mason says by 9:00 pm Saturday both suspects were in custody. He says their statements placed them at both campuses. Inventories were continuing and damage estimates and property loss estimates are not available.
