Quick Arrests In Arson Investigation

Imperial County Sheriff's deputies arrested two people in connection with a haystack fire Monday evening.

According to the Sheriff's Office , a haystack fire was reported at about 7:00PM Monday evening in the area of Pitzer and Correll Roads in Heber. The reporting party told the Sheriff's dispatcher that there were five juveniles in the area and provided authorities with a description of the five. Deputies quickly arrived at the scene and detained all five subjects. Following an investigation , two subjects , a juvenile and an 18-year old adult , were arrested. The adult was identified as Freddie Cervantes of Heber. He was booked into Imperial County Jail and charged with arson and conspiricy. The loss from the fire was estimated at $2,500.
