(Federal prosecutions back to normal)….US Attorney Laura Duffy said they would be cut last Monday.
Duffy is the US Attorney for San Diego and Imperial County. When the Federal Government announced the shut down, Duffy said her office would cut back on Federal Prosecutions. She said immigrant smuggling cases would be prosecuted only if serious injury or death were involved. Non-Marijuana drug smuggling cases would not be prosecuted if a suspect had a border-crossing card, and marijuana smuggling cases would not be prosecuted at all.
