(A lengthy discussion)….It dealt with the Oren R. Fox Detention Facility Project.
The County Board of Supervisors discussed the issue for several hours, beginning Tuesday morning and continuing into the late afternoon. Part of the discussion was to award the construction bid. Two bids were submitted, one by Balfour Beatty and the other by Sletten Nielsen. Both submitted similar monetary bids, but the evaluation team felt Balfour offered more variables to the project. The team recommended the $28 million contract be awarded to Balfour. Officials from Sletten contested that recommendation, bringing up several legal issues. It was decided the legal issues would be addressed and the bidders would make another oral presentation, this time to the Supervisors, and a decision would be made. At last report, there was no decision announced.
