(Injuries not life threatening)…The man was injured Sunday in El Centro.
Police were called to 6th and Adams at around 10:00 Sunday morning. The report was a man walking around with a knife, acting erratically. When the first officer arrived, he spotted the suspect, who also spotted the officer. The suspect charged the police unit. The officer moved the unit away from the suspect. A second officer arrived, and the suspect, later identified as Joshua Lightfoot, was ordered to the ground. The suspect complied, but became combative when officers tried to handcuff him. An off-duty Sheriff’s Deputy and another person moved in to assist the officers and they were able to subdue the suspect. Officers learned that Lightfoot had apparently stabbed a man in the restrooms of Adams Park. The victim was found and flown to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Desert. He is being treated for stab wounds to the neck. Commander Robert Sawyer says the victim is expected to survive.
