(City Council races could still be up in the air)….Remaining ballots could possibly change the outcomes.
More so in Brawley than El Centro. In the Brawley City Council race, incumbents George Nava and Donald Wharton seem to be secure with the unofficial totals. The third seat, however, is very close. Challenger Norma Kastner Jauregui leads incumbent Don Campbell by just 19 votes. City Clerk Alma Benavidez and Treasurer Miguel Miranda ran unopposed. The El Centro City Council Race seems to be more secure. The unofficial numbers have Jason Jackson as the top vote getter, followed by newcomer Edgard Garcia. Incumbent Efrain Silva is holding onto a 70 lead over Sedalia Sanders. Registrar of Voters Debra Porter said it may be a long shot for Sanders to pick up enough remaining ballots to catch Silva, but she said anything is possible. Totals are expected Wednesday afternoon.
