(IID Directors decide not to vote on map)…They were presented an updated boundary map Tuesday.
Imperial Irrigation District Board President Steve Benson decided the presentation would be for information only. He says too many people were involved, and they should have an opportunity to study the map before it is approved. The map creates division boundaries. The Directors decided to change the way they were elected. Several months ago they decided instead of being elected by a countywide vote, the Directors should be elected by the voters in the division they represent. They contracted with National Demographics to put together a boundary map out-lining equal, or as close to equal as possible, five Divisions. The map presented this week will be decided at the District’s November 17th meeting. The deadline to submit an approved map to the County Elections Department is December 9th.
