(Illegal dumping ordinance goes unopposed)…The County Supervisors held a public hearing on the proposed ordinance.
Nobody spoke against it at the Tuesday meeting. The Imperial County Illegal Dumping Task Force recommended the ordinance. They said it was consistent with current California regulations regarding illegal dumping, but improves the Health departments ability to identify the responsible party, or parties, by designating the Health Officer, or qualified designee, as enforcement officer. The ordinance allows the enforcement officer to issue notices of violation, administrative citations, and cease and desist orders for illegally dumping waste. It also provides an administrative enforcement process that includes requiring the responsible party to clean-up the illegally dumped waste. The first reading of the ordinance was approved unanimously by the Board of Supervisors
