Follow-up statement from the Chief

(Chief says let the issue play-out in court)….El Centro Police Chief Eddie Madueno issued a follow-up statement recently.

The Chief had responded to a law firm representing the family Charles Sampson Senior. The Law firm had obtain court permission to obtain video from police body cams that recorded the December 2013 night Sampson was taken into police custody. The El Centro man died while in police custody that night. The law firm edited the video and put it on YouTube. The firm is representing the family in a wrongful death lawsuit. In his original statement, Madueno explained the El Centro Police Department side to the incident. He also explained the video was highly edited before it was made public. In his latest statement, the Chief said the incident should not be tried in the media, but in a courthouse where a jury can hear the evidence in its true form.
