(66 year old woman arrested)….She was taken into custody at the Andrade Port of Entry.
Customs and Border Protection says Carmen Murrieta of Santa Ana was driving a 1999 Volvo station wagon as she entered the Port. The woman and the vehicle were sent to the secondary inspection area for further inspection. CBP officers used a density meter and noticed signs the vehicle’s gas tank had been tampered with. Officers inspected the tank and found 33 vacuum-sealed packages in the gas tank. The packages contained 32 pounds of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of around $240,000. Murrieta was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations agents for further investigation. The woman was later booked into Imperial County Jail. The CBP seized the vehicle and the narcotics.
