Salmonella warning

(Cucumber warning)….It was issued by the California Department of Public Health.

State Health Officer Doctor Karen Smith is warning people not to eat garden cucumbers imported from Mexico and distributed by Andrew and Williamson Fresh Produce. She says those cucumbers may be contaminated with Salmonella. Public Health says they are currently aware of over 285 individuals in 27 states infected with Salmonella serotype Poona, with 51 of these case-patients being reported from 17 California Counties, including one death in San Diego County. The CDPH recommends consumers check with their grocers to determine if the cucumbers purchased at their store are impacted by the warning, since cucumbers have no identifying labels.
