CDFW looking for lizard info

(California Fish and Wildlife is seeking information)…The info they want is on the Flat-tailed horned lizard.

They want to know if it should or should not be placed on the State Endangered species list. In 2014, the Center for Biological Diversity petitioned the California Fish and Game Commission to formally list the lizard as endangered. The petition listed several threats to the lizard, including agriculture, urban and renewable energy development, on and off-road vehicles, Military training, border activities, non-native plants and climate change. It was decided to advance the species to candidacy in February of this year. The commission published their findings and that triggered a 12-month period during which the CDFW will conduct a status review to inform the Commission’s decision on whether to list the species. As part of the process, Fish and Wildlife is soliciting information from the public regarding the specie’s ecology, genetics, life history, distribution, abundance, habitat, the degree and immediacy of threats to reproduction or survival, adequacy of existing management and recommendations for management of the species.
