An Imperial County Sheriff's Deputy on patrol discovered marijuana in an apparently abandoned pick up truck.
Friday afternoon shortly before 5:00 O'clock a sheriff's deputy working Operation Stonegarden observed a pick up truck parked on Highway 86 north of Westmorland. Since the pick up had expired registration , it was processed for storage and an inventory of the vehicles contents was conducted. During the search , several packages of marijuana were found in the cab of the truck. A more thorough search led to additional drugs hidden in the spare tire. The marijuana weighed approximately 66.25 pounds. No arrests were made.
Operation Stonegarden is a federally funded program that provides additional law enforcement in border areas.
