(Local hires dominate workforce)…At least in the Solar energy industry.
The latest numbers released by the IBEW 569 are for the Imperial Solar Energy Center West. At the Tenaska project, 377 employees are from the Imperial County. 26 employees are from the San Diego area and 11 employees are from other areas. 155 of the employees are from Calexico. 107 are from El Centro. 42 of the workers are from the City of Imperial, and 38 are from Brawley. 13 are from Heber and 7 are from Holtville. 15 of the employees are from other areas in the county. When the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers signed an agreement with the county, one of the stipulations were that the majority of the employees they trained and placed would have to be locals.
