(Martinez trial postponed, possibly for a week)…The readiness conference was held Monday.
Rafael Adan Martinez and co-defendants Jose Cordova and Jonathon Vizcaino are charged with running a methamphetamine traffic ring in El Centro. They were arrested in 2013. The ring reportedly smuggled the narcotic from Mexicali and distributed it to the interior of the United States. Martinez is a former Law Enforcement officer. He owned the Tire Shop that allegedly covered for the narcotics ring. Monday the attorney for Cordova asked that the trial be postponed until a separate trial involving his client is finished. Also Monday the court forfeited the $500,000 bail posted by Vizcaino because the suspect failed to attend the Readiness Hearing this week. Martinez and Cordova remain in custody at the County Jail.
