(El Nino is coming)…It will arrive this winter.
El Nino is a prolonged period of unusually warm Pacific waters that influence weather patterns. How much of an influence will this year’s El Nino have on the weather pattern? The National Weather Service office in Phoenix has released some of the details. The Phoenix office covers Imperial County and all of Arizona. They say strong El Nino conditions will exist through the winter of 2015-16. The Weather Service says this will be one of the strongest recorded El Nino episodes since 1950. They say strong El Nino’s lead to the most predictable out-comes of increased rainfall in Arizona and Southern California. Odds clearly point towards a wetter than average winter, especially the latter part of the season. The Weather Service those are the certainties. They say what is not known is whether we can expect above average rain or much above average. Also, they say, Mountain snowfall may or may not be above average depending on snow levels during the winter. Winter arrives in December.
