Homeowners See Tax Hike

The Imperial County Assessor's Office has notified more than 13,000 Imperial County residential property owners that property taxes will increase more than the standard 2 per cent.

County Assessor Robert Menvielle says that the increase ends , or reduces , a temporary property tax reduction that many local property owners have seen property values dropped during the recession. The notices are part of an effort to inform the public about the changes so that they are not surprised. Menvielle said that Imperial County Property Tax Statements will be mailed this month. Menvielle added that the first installment of taxes are due December 10, 2015.
