(Another possible victim of the heat)….The man was found Thursday morning.
The California Highway Patrol made the discovery. At around 11:50 in the morning a CHP officer noticed a person leaning against a bush the frontage road off Interstate 8, near Highway 98 in East Imperial County. The officer checked on the person and found he was dead. The County Coroners office was called. Deputy Coroner Steven Green identified the man as 61-year-old Roderick Escalanti, a resident of the Quechan reservation. It was determined the man had been arrested June 9th. He was released to the Hospital. When he was released from the Hospital, he apparently tried to walk back to the reservation. It is suspected he may have succumbed to the heat while making the long walk. An autopsy was performed Thursday. Results are pending the results of toxicology tests.
