(5th Annual Imperial Valley Red Show Day)…It was a success.
That is, if you judge success by enthusiasm and participation. There were over 300 volunteers at 17 intersections around Imperial Valley from 7:00 am until 10:00 taking donations in big red shoes. It was all to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in San Diego. The goal this year was to do better than they did last year. A grand total of $51,000 was raised at last year’s Red Shoe Day. It is not known if the goal was met. Donations are still being tallied. There are a lot of coins that need to be counted and McDonalds restaurants around the county need to determine how many red shoes were sold. All funds raised go to benefit Ronald McDonald House in San Diego. The House is used to keep families together in a safe, comfortable environment while a child is hospitalized in San Diego. Approximately 25% of those who use the San Diego Ronald McDonald House are from the Imperial Valley.
