(State releases official voter turnout for June 3rd)….The numbers are good and bad.
The California Secretary of State’s office says total voter turnout hit a record low of 25.2 percent. That was lower than the previous record of 28.2 percent set in 2008. On the other side, over two thirds of the ballots cast in the June 3rd primary were vote by mail ballots. The 69 percent vote by mail ballots surpassed the previous record of 65 percent. Imperial County followed the state trend, with only 11.15 percent of the ballots cast in person. 18.88 percent were vote by mail ballots. The local voter turnout came in at 30.03 percent.
