(The 3rd Annual Red Shoe Day is coming up)….Imperial Valley residents are being asked to step up.
The special day is to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House in San Diego. When a family’s child is in need of advanced medical treatment, they may need to make a trip to a hospital in San Diego. Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego provides the families help during their child’s stay at a hospital. They provide the family with a place to stay and all the comforts of home. 25 % of the families that use the San Diego Ronald McDonald House are from the Imperial Valley. Volunteers from around the County are stepping up on October 16th. They will be soliciting donations on various street corners around the County. From 7:00 am to 10:00 that day over 100 volunteers will be asking motorists to drop whatever monetary donation they can make into a size 14 red shoe. Donations will also be accepted from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the 16th at the entrance to El Centro Regional Medical Center. McDonalds restaurants around the County as well as in Yuma will be taking donations beginning October 9th through the 16th. Last year Valley residents donated over $30,000, enough to assist 200 Imperial Valley families. The goal this year is to top last years total.
