(Weights and Measures fees going up)…The County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing Tuesday.
Connie Valenzuela, Sealer of Weights and Measures, requested the change in the current ordinance. She asked that fees be changed to the maximum amount allowed by the state. Valenzuela said even then, the fees would not cover the costs to her department to perform the inspections required. Weights and Measures inspect and calibrate all devices that record merchandise for sale, such as gas pumps, supermarket scanners, etc. This week’s public hearing was a continuation of a public hearing that began last week. The request was approved by the Board unanimously. Valenzuela stressed that all fees would not increase.
