(Two vehicle collision Sunday evening) It was reported at just after 6:00 pm.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the intersection of Highway 98 and Ferrell Road. The CHP says the initial investigation indicates a gray Ford Explorer of Ferrell Road pulled into the intersection with Highway 98, into the path of an eastbound Kia Spectra. The vehicles collided, injuring 3 people. The driver of the Kia, 20-year-old Carlo Barragancamare of Calexico, suffered an obvious broken arm and other injuries. The Highway Patrol says the 20 year old was originally placed under arrest for suspicion of being under the influence of drugs. He was released, however, to receive treatment of his injuries. He was flown by REACH Air Ambulance to Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs. The two in the Ford complained of pain to the chest, but both refused medical treatment. The CHP says they are continuing to investigate the collision.
