(Friday is POW/MIA Recognition Day)….The special day was declared by Presidential Proclamation.
It is a day to recognize and remember those who are still missing from wars and conflicts. Ceremonies are traditionally held at military bases around the nation. A major event is planned by the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. Former Prisoners of War, family members, military service members and distinguished guests will be featured. There are currently still over 83,000 service members missing from past conflicts.
