(The Governor is anxious to sign AB 10)…..The bill has been approved by the legislature.
It was authored by Assembly Democrat Luis Alejo. It calls for an escalating minimum wage increase. The current minimum wage is $8.00 and hour. Under the new bill, the minimum wage would go up to $9.00 an hour on July 1, 2014, eventually reaching $10.00 per hour on January 1, 2016. Governor Brown says the minimum wage has not kept pace with rising costs. He said the legislation was long overdue and will help families that are struggling in this harsh economy.
