Calexico and extreme southern portions of Imperial County were battered by Saturday afternoons thunderstorms and high winds.
As of Sunday afternoon there were still portions of the city of Calexico that were without electricity. Imperial Irrigation District crews were working to repair utility poles and wires that were damaged by the high winds. Trees and large tree limbs litter the streets of the border city. Scattered flooding was also reported. Highway signs along State Routes 111 and 98 were blown over and signs and portions of roofs were blown over throughout the city.
