(DNA results are in)…The County Coroner’s office says they received the results late last week.
Deputy Coroner Rodolfo Barron says the DNA results confirm the body found in the All American Canal July 18th was that of Calexico resident Damian Placencia. The body was discovered by the teen’s father near the New River. That is about two miles from where the 18 year old was last seen swimming in the All American. Officials say it appears strong under-currents pulled Placencia down while he was swimming in the canal. He never resurfaced. Search teams included the Imperial Irrigation District, Sheriff’s Dive team, Calexico Police, family and friends. All searches were futile, until the father discovered the body on July 18th. Barron says the cause of death has officially been listed as drowning.
