A brush fire has shut down Interstate 8 in eastern San Diego County.
According to the California Highway Patrol , westbound lanes of the freeway are closed at Dunbar Lane while the eastbound lanes are being diverted at Lake Jennings Park Road. The first reports of the fire came at about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday. Several structures in the area of the fire are threatened.
Updated information: As of approximately 3:45 p.m. Fire officials have ordered evacuations of several neighborhoods and the American Red Cross is stepping in to provide shelter and assistance as needed.
