(Methamphetamine seized at checkpoint)….A k-9 Detection Team alerted to a jeep Wednesday morning.
The jeep had entered the Highway 86 Border Patrol Checkpoint, driven by a 25-year-old male. The vehicle and driver were referred to the secondary inspection area. A detailed search of the jeep resulted in the discovery of 16 packages of methamphetamine hidden in a compartment built into the rear bed of the jeep. The narcotics weighed 34.6 pounds, with a street value of $1,089,920. The driver of the vehicle was a permanent resident cardholder. He was arrested and the narcotics and vehicle were seized. The suspect, methamphetamine and the vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration agents for further investigation.
