(June unemployment up slightly)…June numbers are the latest available.
The Jobless numbers are released by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. The June unemployment rate for Imperial County was at 23.6 percent, up from a revised 22.7 percent in May. The June numbers are below the year ago jobless rate of 29%. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 8.8 percent for the state and 7.8 percent for the nation during the same period. The report indicates 18,000 eligible workers were looking for a job in June, out of a labor force of 76,400.
