Desert Regional Medical Center has agreed to pay $1.41 million to resolve allegations that they knowingly violated the False Claims Act.

The Palm Springs hospital , affiliated with Tenet Healthcare Corporation , was alleged to have knowingly implanted unnecessary cardiac monitors , often called loop recorders , according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The settlement resolves allegations filed in a lawsuit by former DRMC employee Michael Grace. As part of the settlement Grace will receive over $240,000. According to the Justice Department the claims resolved by the settlement are allegations only and there has been no determination of liability.
