(73rd Annual Holtville Carrot Festival and Street Fair)…It is underway in Holtville.

The Cooking Contests began Tuesday evening. It featured the Junior Chef’s, 6 through 12th grades. They judged on Desserts and Appetizers. In the Dessert Category, first place went to Emma Jean Layton who had prepared Carrot Candy. In the Appetizer category, second place went to Katie Stacey with Garlic Parmesan Roasted Carrots. Blaze Vessey took first place with Carrot Mango Salsa. Wednesday evening will feature Little Chef’s, kinder through 5th grades. They will be competing in 3 categories, Appetizer, Main Course and Dessert. All Cooking Contests begin at 6:00 pm and are held in the Holtville Civic Center.
