(Supervisor does not wait)…John Renison announced plans to run for re-election Wednesday afternoon.
The announcement came in the form of a written statement. Renison represents District one as a County Supervisor. That includes Calexico along the border to the Winterhaven area. In his statement Renison says he is seeking another 4-year term based on a record of job creation, as well as creating new funding sources in the form of Public Benefit funds from Solar Development. His future plans include attracting a call center to his district that would create up to 500 new jobs, funding for a new Port of Entry in Calexico, and continued efforts to help the Manzanita Native American tribe construct a new Casino in Calexico. Renison has served on the Calexico City Council, he has served as Mayor of Calexico, worked for San Diego State University/Imperial Valley Campus, He has managed the Calexico Chamber of Commerce, and in his younger days was an announcer on a local radio station. It is expected Renison will be challenged for his seat on the Board of Supervisors, though no other candidates have announced, yet. The election for County seats is June 3, 2014.
