(County answers Cal Trans call)…The call was for projects for the 2013 Highway Safety Improvement Program.
Cal Trans puts out a call for projects every year, based on anticipated federal safety funding. Imperial County was eligible for up to $3 million in grant funds, up to $1.5 million per project for safety improvements. County Public Works Director William Brunet told the Board Tuesday he had submitted a list of three projects. He was asking the Supervisors for a resolution of support for his request. The list submitted by Brunet includes safety improvements on Kloke Road at Willoughby Road, including a new guardrail and lighting improvements. A curve superelevation as well as lighting and warning improvements on Weiman Road at Cady Road, and intersection improvements at Evan Hewes and Barbara Worth Road, Heber Road at Barbara Worth, Keystone at Austin Road and Worthington Road at McConnell Road. Those improvements would include flashing beacons, lighting improvements and warning signs. The Supervisors approved the resolution requested.
