The Mexican State of Baja California has a new governor.

Jaime Bonilla was sworn in at 1:00 a.m. on Friday , November 1 in Mexicali , the state capitol. After being sworn in the newly seated governor promised to improve public services in the state , including the areas of education , transportation and public safety. Bonilla is a native of Tijuana and has lived on both sides of the border. The 68-year old Bonilla served on the Otay Water District Board in Chula Vista for 12 years.
