(Suspected Drug Smuggler)..He was arrested Thursday.

At around 11:30 Thursday morning Border Patrol agents near the Interstate 8 checkpoint between Pine Valley and Campos encountered an Acura headed west on the Interstate. During the encounter, one of the agents did an exterior search of the vehicle with a Border Patrol k-9, resulting in an alert. A more detailed search resulted in the discovery of 38 bundles of methamphetamine hidden inside the natural voids in the vehicle’s rear quarter panels. The bundles weighed over 42 pounds and had an estimated street value of $80,408. The 35 year old driver, a US citizen, was placed under arrest. The narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the vehicle was seized by the Border Patrol.
