Chariot fire burns 2,500 acres, so far

(Chariot fire 20% contained)…That is the latest report from Cal Fire.

The fire is burning east of Julian, near the Sunrise Highway. It is being called the Chariot fire because of the Chariot Mountain. The latest update from Cal Fire Monday morning indicates the fire has burned over 2,500 acres. The fire was first reported at close to 1:00 Saturday afternoon. They say 120 structures are threatened by the fire, forcing their evacuation. The Red Cross has set up an evacuation Center in Alpine. Officials say they have 1,171 personnel on scene combating the blaze. Four minor injuries have been reported. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
